Veera Motashaw, D.O.

As a native of North Carolina, Dr. Motashaw attended North Carolina State University, where she first learned about, and fell in love with Osteopathy. Her official osteopathic journey began at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA.  Early, during her medical education, Dr. Motashaw was blessed to find incredible mentors. She studied regularly with Christina Steele, D.O., David Harden, D.O. and James Jealous, D.O. who have influenced her practice tremendously. After medical school, she completed a family medicine residency at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, during which time she began to teach Osteopathic Medicine to students of all levels. Treating women and children has always been a strong interest, however, as her interests in Osteopathy at the end of life continued to grow, thanks to Garrett Snipes, M.D., she chose to complete a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Care. In 2017, she moved to Indiana and began working as a Hospice Physician at Community Health Network and also working as an Assistant Professor of Osteopathic Medicine at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Motashaw then spent two years as full time faculty for Lincoln Memorial University Debusk College of Osteopathic Medicine before joining the University of Tennessee Medical Center staff as Director of outpatient University Palliative Care at UT Cancer Institute in Knoxville. She regularly incorporates Osteopathy into her practice which is limited to patients who are actively being treated for cancer at UT Cancer Institute.  She enjoys serving her patients and the continued study of Osteopathy through time with her mentors, monthly study groups, and teaching at annual courses.
